On Jul.6, 2004, Beijing Subway initiated the activity “Wait for the train at the line! Line up for boarding the subway” in the two pilot stations, i.e. Dongzhimen and Xizhimen Stations of line 13.  

The activity “Wait for the train at the line! Line up for boarding the subway” is the major content of Beijing Subway’s publicity and education activity “Civilized subway-riding starts from myself”, and the extension and deepening of the civilized subway-riding activity, and even the urgent need of passengers for safe subway-riding. Dongzhimen and Xizhimen Stations of line 13 are the two pilot stations for the publicity activity in early stage, mainly in the form where supervisors for civilized subway-riding was responsible for guiding passengers to wait for the subway at the line as marked on the ground of the platform, and board on the subway in good order after the subway pulls over and opens the door so as to avoid pushing and squeezing. The purpose of the activity was to further to maintain subway-riding order, and create favorable subway-riding environment so as to make the trip of passengers smooth and conformable.  

During the period of the said publicity and education activity, Beijing Subway organized more than 150 supervisors for civilized subway-riding and young volunteers to guide passengers in morning and evening peak period of time, and specially made four pieces of notice boards which were respectively placed at the ticket offices and ticket checking counters of Dongzhimen and Xizhimen stations, prepared and placed four pieces of publicity posters as well as two pieces of banners to maintain civilized atmosphere. In addition, station radio was used to play the notice of “Wait for the train at the line! Line up for boarding the subway” repeatedly to remind passengers.
