Beijing subway system is a kind of high-speed, safe and comfortable track system with low-level pollution and great passenger-handling capacity. It shoulders the task of passenger transportation of the city. Generally, it adopts a dual-way system for operation(i.e. indenpendent trackway operation in both directions). The technological characteristics of the operation of Beijing’s subway are very distinct:
(1)The passenger flow shows an obvious peak and valley at different hours of a day, which means a large number of concentrated passengers during the rush hours, indicating a very obvious busy period; In space, there are different densities of passengers at different places, which is shown in an extraordinarily large number of passengers at a certain section on the line during a certain period of time.
(2) The interval between different trains is short, indicating a high density of vehicle operation.
(3) The operational organized by “highly concentrated, run with centralized control and to specify responsibilities for different levels.” The technological equipment is advanced and the operation involves multiple departments and equipment systems.
The major tasks for the organizational and operational work of Beijing Subway:
(1)The planning of the operation of trains
This is completed by relying on the train operational schedule map. It includes the planning of the routine operation of trains and the adjustment of the operation at holidays and under special circumstances.
(2) The dispatch of trains
As the core of the operation of the subway system, it is the task of the dispatch center. The dispatch work follows a principle of highly centralized order issuing so as to secure the safe and punctual operation of trains, a timely adjustment and a realization of passenger transportation under all kinds of circumstances.
(3)The operation-securing organizing work at stations
When the control is shifted from the center to the station, the operation for the operation of trains, including dealing with the incoming trains and showing signals, in the area under the charge of any station, should be completed.
(4) The organizing work for passenger transportation
Establishment and implementation of the plan of passenger transportation, the collection of information concerning passenger flow and ticket-related work and the reacting measures for the passenger transportation in special circumstances.
(5) Ticket management work
It refers to the ticket management system like setting the rules and price of tickets, selling and collecting tickets, etc.
(6) The organizing work for the operation of trains at train base.
To realize vehicles’ entering into and going-out from the garage and the shift between routes.
(7) Safety operation work
This includes the building and management of the system for securing the safety of operation of the trains, the safety of passengers and the reaction to natural disasters.
